In an effort to make dental care more accessible, Dr. David Côté Dental Clinic is pleased to announce its participation in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This program, gradually rolled out since May 2024, offers public dental insurance to Canadians without private insurance and with an annual household income of less than $90,000. It allows eligible patients to enjoy partial coverage of their dental expenses.
We are delighted to welcome patients who wish to take advantage of this new coverage offered by the federal government for covered care and treatments.
Thanks to the CDCP, a greater number of people will be able to benefit from quality dental follow-up tailored to their needs. This is our way of contributing to the health of our patients by offering them a healthy and functional smile. Do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment with one of our dentists in Gatineau (Hull sector).
To schedule an appointment, please contact our dental clinic in Gatineau and specify that you are covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Our secretary will guide you through the necessary steps. She can also provide information on our rates and CDCP reimbursements, so you can anticipate your expenses.
*** The information provided here is current as of May 24, 2024. It is your responsibility to ensure it has not changed since then.
This new public dental insurance will be available to all Canadians meeting the eligibility criteria in 2025. The program will be rolled out in several phases. Ultimately, eligible individuals (see information below) will only have to pay a portion of the costs related to their dental care, with the rest being reimbursed by the CDCP. The percentage reimbursed by the government will vary based on your annual household income.
To benefit from this public insurance, you must first submit an application. A letter will typically be sent to eligible individuals during the initial phases of the program rollout. An insurance card and a welcome kit will be sent to you once the application is made and accepted. Subsequently, you will not have to file a claim: when paying for your dental care, we will directly request reimbursement from Sun Life, which acts as the service provider for the CDCP. You will simply need to pay the balance of the costs, i.e., the portion of fees not covered by the public plan.

Even if your coverage is 100%, there will be fees to pay, as the CDCP fee schedule does not match that of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, which we use to set our prices. You will therefore need to pay the difference between the actual treatment fees and the covered amount.
When you receive dental care, we will directly request reimbursement from the CDCP, and the response will be immediately available. You will therefore need to pay the remaining amount according to our usual payment terms.
